These days, tech companies seem to come and go faster than we can keep up. But where does that leave your business if the dental practice software you rely on to run your day to day suddenly goes under? Unfortunately, this happens more often than people realize. How can you protect yourself from something that at best is wildly inconvenient and at worst can have a really negative impact on your business? While you can't predict everything, you can do your best to avoid trouble by doing a little homework.
1. Ask questions. When you're getting ready to make an investment as significant as the company that will help you run your practice, you can ask as many questions as you want. How long has the company been around? What vendors do they rely on? How do they ensure they're keeping up with security and compliance?
2. Pay attention. Do they return your calls/emails quickly, even when you aren't a customer? Once you are, are they responsive? Is the software down frequently for updates. Too frequently? Is their website up to date? Does it seem like things fall through the cracks? Sure, you're buying software, but if you can't get support from the people behind that software, it's useless.
3. Look at their partners/vendors. Find out who they're relying on. Do they have their own cloud infrastructure or are they working with someone else? tab32 works with Google to provide our secure, reliable cloud for your data. If they aren't using another company, you'll want to get the details on how their cloud works to protect your data.
4. Trust your gut. If you don't have a good feeling about it, then it's probably worth looking around at other options. You can also get a second opinion and/or ask some of their current clients how things are going. They should have some clients who have given testimonials or are available for you to chat.
